Database Schematic and Naming Conventions

A file geodatabase was utilized to organize the vector data for all three parks. A separate feature dataset was created for each park and was named for the park it represented. Feature classes (shapefiles) were imported into the appropriate feature dataset, depending upon which park the data belonged. Each feature class was named with the first four letters representing the abbreviated park name (ie. HALE, HAVO, KALA) that the data file describes. The last part of the feature class name represents the type of data within the file (ie. boundary, river, roads). The abbreviated park name and the data name were separated by an underscore (_).

The raster files were placed in a separate folder entitled "DEMs." The same four-letter abbreviated park names were used in the raster file names to distinguish which files pertain to which park.
