Lab Activities: Invasive Species Exercises

There are numerous methods available for setting up a study site and collecting invasive species data. Monitoring invasive species involves sampling an area, rather than trying to detect all invasives on an entire hillside or region. It is expected that the sample from which data is obtained is representative of the area for which the conclusions will be applied.

Sampling setups include various types of plots, within which percent cover and species of plants can be determined, recorded, and uploaded to the NIISS database. These sampling setups include:
